We are kicking off The Great Kindness Challenge contest for all YCJUSD schools and departments. We encourage employees, TK-12 students, and their families to share acts of kindness by posting pictures or short videos on Instagram. The Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District is seeking eligible and qualified individuals from Trustee Area 5 (https://bit.ly/Trustee5) to apply for a provisional appointment to the Governing Board. The period of service for this position will extend from the anticipated date of appointment, January 31, 2025, through the end of the current term, which is November 2026. Interested applicants must complete a Board Candidate Application, which can be obtained through the following methods: On the District website at www.yucaipaschools.com In person at the District Superintendent’s Office, 12797 Third Street, Yucaipa, CA 92399 By contacting the District Superintendent’s Office at 909-797-0174, ext. 5802. Applications will not be available until Friday, January 10, 2025 Completed applications must be submitted either in person to the Superintendent’s Office or via e-mail to Stella Bradley at stella_bradley@ycjusd.us by Friday, January 24, 2025. Applications received after that time will not be considered. Interviews for eligible and qualified applicants will occur at a special Governing Board meeting on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The successful candidate will be sworn in during the same special meeting. YCJUSD Families and Team, Power is now out at Ridgeview Elementary School, Valley Elementary School, Park View Middle School, and Yucaipa High School. Southern California Edison’s (SCE) outage map indicates these could be eight-hour outages however, they are continually assessing the fire risk and could turn on the power at any time. The same applies to our other schools, SCE will continue to assess the situation and may turn off power at additional schools. We apologize for the last-minute change and will continue to keep you posted. Students at the affected schools can remain on campus. Instructional programs and nutrition services will continue. We are assessing areas of low light and providing generator/battery-powered lighting. Internet and phones are down districtwide due to the outages. Following the swearing-in of our new and returning members, the Board held its annual organizational meeting to elect officers of the Board. We invite you to join our District Community Cabinet. The new Community Cabinet will be vital in decision-making and will receive regular updates from the Superintendent’s Office about various district topics. We are looking for anyone who wants to make a difference for all current and future students. Our first meeting is on January 13th at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the District Education Center at 12797 3rd St., Yucaipa, CA. Time is set aside for an open table discussion; however, if you have something you would like added to the agenda, please email Lance_Bradley@ycjusd.us.
