At the March 11, 2025, regular Board of Education meeting, the Governing Board appointed Cathy Pearson as the Executive Director of Student Services. Student Services, within the District’s Educational Services Department, is the central system that provides equitable support to students beyond classroom instruction. By removing barriers to learning and ensuring access to education, the department directly supports the academic, social-emotional, and physical well-being of all students, while also working with families of students on Individualized Education Programs or IEPs. Student Services is also responsible for overseeing the educational program at the Early Childhood Education Center which services both special and general education students in a preschool setting.
Leading the Student Services Department carries significant responsibility but Cathy Pearson is well-equipped with a strong background in special education and school administration at the elementary and secondary levels. Starting as a paraprofessional in October of 1997, Cathy progressed in her career taking the next steps to become a special education teacher at Yucaipa High School in 2004 and eventually earning an administrative role as the assistant principal at Park View Middle School in 2010. Her career continued to progress serving as an assistant principal at elementary, middle, and high school levels culminating in becoming the principal of Mesa View Middle School where she has left a positive impact that will last for years to come.
When asked, Cathy said her goal is to cultivate efficiency in the Student Services Department through effective collaboration and communication to help provide the best services and support for all students. As demonstrated in her years at Mesa View Middle School, Mrs. Pearson is strongly committed to creating a positive climate where employees, students, and families feel supported and empowered to succeed.
Moving forward as the new Executive Director, Cathy shares a commitment to collaboration, relationship-building, and unwavering support. She looks forward to partnering with families to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed at any stage in their educational journeys.
