On February 19, 2025, State Superintendent Tony Thurmond announced that Green Valley High School in the Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District was recognized as a Model Continuation High School for 2025. The Model Continuation High School designation is retained for three years, and this is Green Valley High’s second time in a row being recognized, meaning they will have held the designation for a total of six years at the end of this recognition cycle.
“I am incredibly proud of the work our staff accomplishes each day,” said Green Valley Principal Frank Tucci. “Our students deserve the very best, and that's exactly what they receive. We are thrilled to earn the title of Model Continuation High School. It serves as validation for our daily work. The practices we implement reflect our core values and commitment. I am equally grateful to earn a six-year WASC accreditation, which further validates the dedication of our students and staff. I am thankful daily to work with such professionals and be part of so many talented young adults' journeys! Go Panthers!”
There are 429 continuation high schools across the state, and for this prestigious honor, Green Valley joined the ranks of 74 other continuation high schools again. According to the California Department of Education (CDE), the Model Continuation High School Recognition Program is a collaborative partnership between the CDE and the California Continuation Education Association Plus (CCEA Plus).
Continuation high schools, like Green Valley High, provide comprehensive services to students through exemplary instructional strategies, flexible scheduling, and guidance and counseling services. The team at Green Valley excels in each of these areas, giving students a second chance at earning their high school diploma while gaining the necessary life skills and tools to be successful in college and career.
“I am always so proud of our uniquely equipped and talented team at Green Valley. They exhibit true dedication to their students and each other, “ said Superintendent Cali Binks. “This recognition only proves what we have known all along. Green Valley High School is a place where our team makes a difference in the life of each child.”
