Fall GATE eligibility testing for grades 4-8 will take place during the month of December. Testing can only take place with a signed parent permission form. If you would like your child to be tested for initial qualification in the GATE program, please fill out sections A and B on the permission slip attached to the ParentSquare post. The form must be returned to your child’s school office by November 20, 2024.
Qualifying for GATE is a multi-tier process which is based on a demonstration of exceptional abilities on district assessments, in classroom performance and/or on report card grades. In addition to this information, one component of the process is an objective measure of a student’s intellectual ability. The Yucaipa-Calimesa JUSD has selected the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT3) as the primary measure for this purpose.
Again, if you would like your child to be tested for consideration into the Gifted and Talented Education program, please fill out sections A and B on the permission slip attached to the ParentSquare post and return this form to the school office by November 20, 2024.
If your student has previously qualified for GATE, they do not need to take this test. If you have any questions, please contact Shad Kirkland at (909) 797-0174, x5830.
