On Tuesday, Sept. 10, the Yucaipa Calimesa Joint Unified School Board swore in its newest student board member, Joshua Breyer. Despite all schools being closed and having the Homecoming festivities canceled due to the Line Fire, spirits were high welcoming Breyer to the board. The position is a two-year term and requires Breyer to attend all the school board meetings for him to serve as a liaison between the governing body of the school district and all Yucaipa-Calimesa students during the 2024-25 school year. He will be recognized as a full member of the board at all meetings and will be part of the discussions and will be able to cast his vote for all items on the open session agenda.
Breyer’s goal is to be the voice of the student body and hopes to bridge the gap between students and the board. He is following in his brother’s footsteps by joining the board of education. Although following in his brother’s path, he plans to carve his own way into this position. He is against bullying and looks forward to representing those who are underrepresented.
The board welcomed him while encouraging more students to apply for a similar position. For more information, visit yucaipaschools.com or call the district office at 909-797-0174.
